LogicInk Hydration Signal
Non-invasive, saliva-based colorimetric biosensor to help you stay hydrated
Dehydration is defined as an excessive loss of total body water producing an imbalance of sodium, potassium, chloride, and other electrolytes. Immediate problems involve nausea, cramping, headaches, dizziness.
Awareness for balanced electrolytes is not present in those who need it most and even those with awareness are not always focused on it enough. The elderly, who are most likely to suffer from extreme imbalances, are often unaware of their bodies’ needs. Athletes on the other hand, who put themselves into situations which increase the risk of dehydration, are more likely to take action; however, without a visual feedback loop readily available, their actions cannot be easily adjusted and the risk of dehydration that can lead situations like soft tissue injury or worse remain.
